deer parkDeer Park Heights, known as the hill of the deer, is a mountainous barrier that affords beautiful panoramic views over Lake Wakatipu. Here are some of the scenes filmed in the trilogy, some of them even indicated. The best known: the evacuation of Edoras and Wargo attack. As a curiosity, this location was also used for the filming of certain scenes from X-Men: Origins.

Deer Park Heights is a park of 800 hectares of easily accessible by road. Admission is about NZ $ 20 per car payable at the door. Then you can drive at your own pace, stopping wherever and whenever you want. The park is located above Queenstown, so the views from here are breathtaking. There are many types of animals in this area, apart from the deer. They roam freely: bison, llamas, goats, miniature horses, sheep, donkeys and cattle in the highlands. Many animals can be fed by hand and sold cans of nuts and other fruits of the animals for it.

From the top of all of the park, we can find two great views, the one looks to the west and the other to the east. The West is an impressive panoramic view of the two arms of Lake Wakatipu to Cecil Peak in the center. If we look at this, find the airport in Queenstown and Arrow town Lake Hayes in conjunction with the Crown Range. From here we will also get a magnificent view of the Remarkable Mountains.
