Colombia is located in northern South America, and its shores are washed by the Caribbean north and west by the Pacific Ocean. With a warm climate and plenty of contrasts, you can see three distinct zones: the hot, temperate and frigid. That makes this country has the privilege of having the whole year with all possible climates. Such varied climates allow us to enjoy one of the major attractions of Colombia: its beautiful beaches.
Its physical geography is divided into the eastern part, which is a great plain watered by tributaries of the Orinoco and the Amazon, Central and West, where the Andes mountain range, which rises to 4,000 meters high, branches into three areas separated by deep valleys, also has a large part occupied by the Amazon rainforest. Its capital is Bogota, a stunning city that is also worth visiting.
The sun, sea and beach, where you can enjoy white sand and crystal clear waters makes the most popular destinations are: Cartagena de Indias, which has one of the most fantastic old part, declared a World Heritage Site and offers the walk to the Isla del Rosario, you will appreciate the Nuestra Senora del Rosario Archipelago, with more than 20 islands, islets and cays. Other beaches are Santa Marta outstanding with its fabulous white sand beaches and modern hotels and San Andres, Providencia, San Bernardo Archipelago and Islands Mangle.
It is no doubt that Colombia offers many beaches, with over 60% of the Colombian coast consists of beaches that are highlighted within the best beaches in the Caribbean, some formed by sediment of fluvial origin and sometimes by wind erosion of the coast. In other parts of the beaches are of coral, which have grain sediment. Varied climates, incredible beaches, nature reserves, a range of different landscapes, beautiful squares and a great nightlife make Colombia one of the most attractive and prominent beach destinations in South America.
