Machu Picchu Inca citadel is impressive, considered the archeological capital of America. It is the main tourist attraction of Peru and from July 2007 forms part of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Machu Picchu was also proclaimed the Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Its name means “old mountain” in Quechua. One of the most famous archaeological sites in the world and an extraordinary piece of architecture on the planet.

It is also known as the City of platforms, stairs and water sources.
The citadel is surrounded by a huge mysticism, then to the present day, no one knows how the builders managed to carry the huge stones at the top of the mountain, to build this magnificent city that Hiram Bingham scientist revealed to the world 1911.

Machu Picchu is built in a hard place to reach the edge of an abyss. It is universally known for its impressive ruins and is believed to have been inhabited mostly by women, because of the findings of a large number of female skeletons in the place.

The minimum recommended time to take a tour to Machu Picchu is one day. It is accessible by train, by helicopter or by an exciting four-day trek called “Inca Trail”, which are traversed 40 kilometers through the same route they followed to reach the Inca citadel.

This option is a favorite with tourists during the tour as you can see archaeological sites, stunning sunrises and sunsets, unimaginable landscapes, forests and bridges, making it a unique experience.

The archaeological site of Machu Picchu is nestled on the crest of the hill of the same name, 130 kilometers northwest of Cusco in the Urubamba province.

Cusco is a city full of attractions in the mornings you can walk to nearby villages, visit the archaeological remains and visit its churches and interesting museums.

Cuzco also offers tourists a wide variety of opportunities for nightlife, with its nightclubs, pubs and restaurants.
For adventure lovers, the city of Cusco offers many activities such as, horseback riding, climbing, hiking, canoeing, biking, ballooning, among others.

In Cuzco there are many interesting places to visit such as the Plaza de Armas, Barrio San Blas, which is the most picturesque of the city and houses the workshops of the finest craftsmen.

The main churches and convents of Cuzco are the Cathedral and the Society of Jesus, located in the Plaza de Armas, La Merced Church and Convent of Santo Domingo and others.

Cuzco also has many museums of Art and History of Religion and outside the city you can visit many archaeological sites of interest such as Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara, Koricancha Tampumachay, Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Urubamba, Pisac, Ollantaytambo , Chinchero, Maras, Calca, Urubamba and Yucay, the Stone of Twelve Angles, among others.
The city has several hotels, including: Archaeologist Hotel Carlos V Hotel, Casa Andina B & B Plaza Club hotel, Cusco Plaza Hotel, Don Carlos Cusco Hotel, Don Carlos Incatambo.
